Executive Level 1 Health Information Manager Acute Care Classification Section

IHACPA is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic health information manager to join a team who are driven by improving the accuracy and use of health information through principle and evidence-based health classification development. 

As a classification manager within the Acute Care Classifications section there is an opportunity to influence the development of the national health classifications, through provision of specialist knowledge and operational experience in the use of ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS and ICD-11.
The classification manager works within a team to develop and refine ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS that is undertaking the necessary work to transition to ICD-11. 

Contributing knowledge about health classification development and/or education, is crucial to ensure the national classifications remain clinically current and fit for purpose. APS Level 6 - Technical Analyst, Hospital Pricing Section

Join a team shaping the future of Australia’s hospital funding system. As a Technical Analyst, you will apply strong analytical capability, sound judgment and well developed stakeholder skills to support the delivery of IHACPA’s national activity based funding (ABF) cost and pricing models. You will contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of complex modelling frameworks, working collaboratively with internal specialists, policy areas, advisory bodies and sector stakeholders.

In this role, you will analyse substantial hospital activity and cost data, generating insights that inform national funding decisions. You will also communicate technical concepts clearly, prepare high quality documentation and committee papers, and support the Executive by translating modelling outcomes into practical, actionable information.

Executive Level 2 - Director, Hospital Policy and Projects

Lead high impact national health policy work at the centre of Australia’s public hospital funding system. As the Director of the Hospital Policy and Projects Section, you will guide a talented team to deliver key components of IHACPA’s activity based funding and block funding frameworks, including the Pricing Framework, National Efficient Price and National Efficient Cost. You will oversee policy projects that drive continuous improvement in hospital pricing, costing and classification, ensuring IHACPA’s models remain robust, transparent and fit for purpose.

In this role, you will shape policy positions, manage complex assessments, and provide expert advice on cross border matters, service inclusions and funding model design. You will build strong relationships across jurisdictions and health sector stakeholders and support the CEO and Executive on strategic and emerging issues. This role offers the opportunity to lead meaningful reform and influence national health funding outcomes.

IHACPA is looking for a motivated Technical Analyst to join the Aged Care Pricing section. The successful candidate will contribute to analysis of aged care data and developing the statistical models that inform IHACPA's advice to the Australian Government on pricing for residential and in-home aged care. Responsibilities will include quantitative analysis, model development, communicating results to stakeholders and collaborating with teams across the agency.

Department of Health, Disability and Ageing Temporary Employment Register 2025/2026

Multiple positions

We are seeking talented people with a broad cross section of skills, experience and qualifications to register for our Temporary Employment Register (TER). 

The TER assists with filling temporary positions (up to a possible maximum period of 18 months) across Health, TGA and IHACPA and is open for candidates to register an interest in employment at the APS Level 2 – Executive Level 2 classifications. You don’t need to have experience in a government department or the health sector as our staff have backgrounds in a range of fields in both the public and private sectors.
