The Costing study on Home Enteral Nutrition, Home Total Parenteral Nutrition and Home Ventilation Services was undertaken in 2014. The purpose of the study was to review the costs associated with the delivery of public hospital services to patients receiving home enteral nutrition, home total parenteral nutrition and home ventilation services. The study include a literature review, stakeholder consultation and costing the respective services based on data collected from the jurisdictions.

NHCDC Independent Financial Review 2012-13

The National Hospital Cost Data Collection (NHCDC) is the primary data collection that the Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority (IHACPA) relies on to calculate the national efficient price used for the funding of public hospital services. To ensure that the quality of NHCDC data is robust and fit for purpose, IHACPA commissions an independent financial review to assess whether all participating hospitals have included appropriate costs and patient activity.

Development of the Australian Refined Diagnosis Related Groups V8.0

As per the contract for Australian Refined Diagnosis Related Groups (AR-DRG) Classification System Development and Refinement Services between the Commonwealth of Australia as represented by the Independent Hospital Pricing Authority (IHPA) and the University of Sydney as represented by the National Centre for Classification in Health (NCCH), the Australian Consortium for Classification Development (ACCD) led by the NCCH is required to deliver AR-DRG Version (V) 8.0 to IHPA by 31 October 2014.

In August 2011, the Commonwealth, States and Territories signed The National Health Reform Agreement (NHRA). Among a number of other reforms, the NHRA committed the Commonwealth and State and Territory jurisdictions to implement an Activity Based Funding (ABF) model for public healthcare services. The NHRA also recognised that the infrastructure to fund teaching, training and research (TT&R) on an activity basis was not in place.
