IHPA recognises the need for the pricing of public hospital services to respond in a timely manner to the introduction of new health technologies and innovations in models of care.
The Impact of New Health Technology Framework (the Framework) outlines the process by which IHPA, via its Clinical Advisory Committee, will monitor and review the impact of new health technologies on the existing classifications in order to accurately account for them in the pricing of public hospital services.
Where the technology is not accounted for, IHPA may refer the technology for priority coding and classification development.
