Healthcare sector invited to help shape Australia’s admitted care classifications

6 October 2026

IHACPA is calling for feedback on Australia’s admitted care classifications and coding standards.

As part of the consultation, we are seeking feedback across several key areas, including:

  • ICD‑10‑AM/ACHI/ACS Fourteenth Edition
  • AR‑DRG V13.0
  • priority areas for future ACHI and AR‑DRG development.

These classifications support nationally consistent reporting of admitted patient care and inform hospital funding, planning, monitoring, analysis and health data quality.

ICD‑10‑AM/ACHI/ACS and AR‑DRGs are updated regularly to ensure they remain clinically current and fit for purpose.

The consultation paper outlines current development work and seeks input on priorities and issues for future admitted care classification development.

Feedback received through the consultation will help IHACPA identify considerations and future priorities.

The consultation closes at 5pm AEDT 13 November 2026. Submissions can be made online, by email or by mail.

To download the consultation paper and make a submission, visit IHACPA’s Engagement Hub.
