National Hospital Cost Data Collection Public Sector

The public sector National Hospital Cost Data Collection (NHCDC) is an annual collection of public hospital cost data supplied by states and territories. IHACPA uses this data to develop the national efficient price, which determines annual funding for activity‑based public hospital services.

We validate and check each NHCDC submission to ensure the data is robust and fit for purpose. We also produce benchmarking reports across jurisdictions. Each annual collection includes a public hospital cost report which contains cost weight tables.
