This Policy also outlines the process jurisdictions may wish to undertake to make a complaint or enquire about IHACPA’s legislative functions or the performance of these functions. Back-Casting Policy Version 8.0

The Back-Casting Policy outlines the process the Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority follows when back-casting the national efficient price (NEP) or the national efficient cost (NEC) for the purpose of calculating Commonwealth growth funding, as set out in clause A41 of the Addendum. This Policy will be applied in conjunction with the National Pricing Model Consultation Policy which outlines the guiding principles and consultative processes associated with changes that materially impact the application of the national pricing model for the purpose of the NEP and NEC Determinations. The National Hospital Cost Data Collection (NHCDC) Public Sector Report, Appendix Tables, and Infographic present the results from the NHCDC Public Sector 2020-21. It is important to note that the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic has impacted the accuracy and completeness of this year’s public hospital expenditure and activity. As a result, this year may not be consistent with prior years and across jurisdictions.These documents account for the hospital costs submitted by jurisdictions for the following activity streams: admitted acute, subacute and non-acute, non-admitted, emergency department, admitted mental health, and community mental health.
